Love this guy. The opening drum riff (before the clacking rim shot) is like something from a Jazz Samba fusion. I think he said that he was sampling Jazz records. Top producer.

In retrospect I am beginning to understand what happened in the early 00s: many producers were doing really adventuring stuff, but the crowd was reacting very conservatively. Photek was hated for not doing straight drum n bass (even this was not considered drum n bass, for reasons I cannot understand), Luomo (and rest of Force Tracks) was hated for not being straight up house, minimal techno and dub techno and dub house were hated for not being the same stomping beats, and while electroclash took its place the rest of the genres became, yes, very conservative. At least until the dubstep and post dubstep waves stirred things a bit.
