Frank had charm and looks, but Mel had the far, far better voice. Too bad the public preferred charm and looks to real talent. 

Such beautiful tone. Agree with Wolfgang Ruttkowski, that his scat singing is brilliant, I suspect because he was a pretty good drummer so his rhythm was great as well as his voice.
