This song never really leaves me. A friend is dying now, and this song is here but I am thousands of miles away from him.

Our grandson was killed a fiery car crash last month two days after I bought him the car. He was speeding, lost control and hit a tree. The car caught fire and exploded. He burned to death. I know it wasn’t my fault but I can’t shake the guilt. He was only 20 years old. My wife and I raised him for the most part. He lived with us. My wife hasn’t stopped crying. We loved him so much. We miss him. I’d trade places with him if I could. We miss you so much Anthony.

My friend (and workmate) always passed notes to each other of songs that we didn’t know and this was one of them! she died in February

Great songwriter and performer. Fountain of Sorrow is another fav.

For all of us who lost that place of comfort of loss. I miss you dad.

This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I love JB!

This says he wrote this song about his wife who died in 1976.  But he wrote the song two years earlier.  What am I missing here?
