This is lyrically a glimpse of optimism on such a conceptually sad album. From what I understand, pretty much all of Every Open Eye is about a bad relationship. “We are made up of our mistakesWe are falling but not aloneWe will take the best parts of ourselvesAnd make them gold”The way the album is sequenced makes this song feel kind of sad. Seems like Lauren had an optimistic and hopeful attitude on this one and it seems like this relationship was really all over the place. But man Afterglow is real beautiful heart-crusher. The album is sequenced so nicely and has so much room for interpretation. Lauren is a fantastic lyricist
